THE GOD OF SMALL THINGS

"They all crossed into forbidden territory. They all tampered with the laws that lay down who should be loved and how. And how much. " The year is 1969. In the state of Kerala, on the southernmost tip of India, a skyblue Plymouth with chrome tailfins is stranded on the highway amid a Marxist workers' demonstration. Inside the car sit two-egg twins Rahel and Esthappen, and so begins their tale. . . . Armed only with the invincible innocence of children, they fashion a childhood for themselves in the shade of the wreck that is their family--their lonely, lovely mother, Ammu (who loves by night the man her children love by day), their blind grandmother, Mammachi (who plays Handel on her violin), their beloved uncle Chacko (Rhodes scholar, pickle baron, radical Marxist, bottom-pincher), their enemy, Baby Kochamma (ex-nun and incumbent grandaunt), and the ghost of an imperial entomologist's moth (with unusually dense dorsal tufts). When their English cousin, Sophie Mol, and her mother, Margaret Kochamma, arrive on a Christmas visit, Esthappen and Rahel learn that Things Can Change in a Day. That lives can twist into new, ugly shapes, even cease forever, beside their river "graygreen." With fish in it. With the sky and trees in it. And at night, the broken yellow moon in it. The brilliantly plotted story uncoils with an agonizing sense of foreboding and inevitability. Yet nothing prepares you for what lies at the heart of it. The God of Small Things takes on the Big Themes--Love. Madness. Hope. Infinite Joy. Here is a writer who dares to break the rules. To dislocate received rhythms and create the language she requires, a language that is at once classical and unprecedented. Arundhati Roy has given us a book that is anchored to anguish, but fueled by wit and magic.

Catch-22 By Joseph Heller

"Catch-22" is one of this century's greatest works of American literature. First published m 1961, Joseph Heller's profound and compelling novel has appeared on nearly every list of must read fiction. It is a classic in every sense of the word.
"Catch-22" took the war novel genre to a new level, shocking us with its clever and disturbing style. Set in a World War II American bomber squadron off the coast of Italy, "Catch-22" is the story of John Yossarian, who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. Yossarian is also trying to decode the meaning of Catch-22, a mysterious regulation that proves that insane people are really the sanest, while the supposedly sensible people are the true madmen. And this novel is full of madmen -- Colonel Cathcart, who keeps raising the number of missions the men must fly m order to finish their tour; Milo Minderbinder, a dedicated entrepreneur who bombs his own airfield when the Germans offer him an extra 6 percent; Major Major Major, whose tragedy in life is that he resembles Henry Fonda; and Major -- de Coverley, whose face is so forbidding no one has dared ask his name.
No novel before or since has matched "Catch-22's" intensity and brilliance in depicting the brutal insanity of war. Heller satirizes military bureaucracy with bitter, stinging humor, all the while telling the darkly comic story of Yossarian, a bombardier who refuses to die.
Nearly forty years later, Yossarian lives.

Diabetics Water Therapy

If you are diabetic or not, pls try, as it will do only good for your health, because it includes water therapy.............

Please note that another name for Lady Finger ( Bhindi ) is " OKRA ".
Last month in one of TV program I learnt of a treatment of Sugar (Diabetes). EvenI am not diabetic, I tried it and it was very useful .

Take two fresh pieces of Lady Finger (Bhindi) and remove/cut both ends of each piece. Also put a small cut in the middle and put these two pieces in glass of water. Cover the glass and keep it at room temperature during night. Early morning, before breakfast simply remove two pieces of lady finger (bhindi) from the glass and drink that water in empty stomach.

Keep doing it on daily basis.
Within two weeks, you will see remarkable results in reduction of your SUGAR.

My sister has got rid of her diabetes. She was on Insulin for a few years, but after taking the lady fingers every morning for a few months, she has stopped Insulin but continues to take the lady fingers every day.
But she chops the lady fingers into fine pieces in the night, adds the water and drinks it all up the next morning.
Please try it as it will not do you any harm even if it does not do much good to you, but U have to keep taking it for a few months before U see results, as most cases might be chronic..................

I am not interested in dry economic socialism. We are fighting against misery, but we are also fighting against alienation. One of the fundamental objectives of Marxism is to remove interest, the factor of individual interest, and gain, from men's psychological motivations. Marx was preoccupied both with economic factors and with their repercussions on the spirit. If communism isn't interest in this too, it may be a method of distributing goods, but it will never be a revolutionary way of life." Dr Ernesto Che
Why I'm an Atheist?
1. Multiple gods and religious traditions just divide human beings.
2. Contradictory characteristics in gods, most are just impossible for my simple brain to understand.
3. Religion is self-contradictory and man made.
4. Gods are too similar to believers, the main theme is gods are supernatural, and I believe in natural things.
5. Evils in the world are inside us all, its not the god who cleans it.
6. Faith in god and religion, though, is an unreliable guide to reality or means for acquiring knowledge.
7. Life is Material, not supernatural.
8. If you can understand the cosmic forces in the universe you wouldn't believe the theory of god as creator.
9. If there is someone who can do good in this world thats you and not god.
10. Finally, who needs god.

IN COLD BLOOD :
Truman Capote
A masterpiece....a spell binding work.it's a true account of multiple murder and its consequences.

story....sorry, the incident happend in Holcomb of Kansas state.
On november 15,1959, in the small town of Holcomb, four members of the Cluter family were savagily killed by blasts from a shot gun held a few inches from there faces.there was no apparent motive for the crime there were almost no clue.

As Cupote recostructs the murder and the investigation that led to capture, trial and execution of the killers,he generates both mesmorising suspense and astonishing empathy.it's called to be the best account of an American Crime ever written.

The bookchills the blood and exercises the intelligence....harrowing....

It's a must read book.
